About the role
The Packaging Engineering Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the design, development and execution of global labeling and packaging initiatives across product portfolios. This role builds organizational capability, drives innovation, and ensures regulatory compliance while advancing sustainability, cost efficiency and product protection objectives. As a member of the broader engineering leadership team, the manager sets functional strategy, aligns resources to enterprise priorities, and fosters a high‑performance culture. The position partners cross‑functionally with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations and Supply Chain to ensure execution excellence and technical rigor.

Responsibilities
Set and execute the strategic vision for labeling and packaging engineering to support product innovation, regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Lead, develop and scale a high‑performing engineering team, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations and succession plans.
Partner with project and portfolio leaders to define priorities, resource plans and timelines that support R&D milestones and commercial commitments.
Oversee the design, validation and implementation of packaging and labeling solutions that ensure product integrity, cost effectiveness and compliance with global regulations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on sustainability, material optimization, risk mitigation and total cost of ownership.
Ensure adherence to company policies, quality system requirements and applicable regulatory standards across all project activities.
Proactively identify and resolve complex technical and organizational challenges, applying strong change management and conflict resolution practices.
Foster an inclusive, technically entrepreneurial culture that encourages innovation, accountability and collaboration.
Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and development opportunities and implement progressive discipline when necessary.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product labeling and/or packaging engineering.
Minimum of 1 year’s experience in people management and technical leadership.
Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to influence and drive cross‑functional performance.
Experience leading through ambiguity with strong change management and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to travel globally up to 20%.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in an engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in people management and technical leadership.
Experience designing packaging and/or labeling for Class II or Class III medical devices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Highly organized and results oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex initiatives.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
Compensation and Benefits
Minimum Salary: $125,800
Maximum Salary: $239,000
Compensation may include variable components such as annual bonus targets and long‑term incentives, subject to eligibility and plan requirements.
