Overview
Join our centralized Business Intelligence team and transform how we understand our e-commerce catalog through data-driven insights. You\'ll build scalable analytics solutions that help prevent customer issues before they arise, enabling faster decision-making across our organization and driving long-term growth.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with business and product leaders to define key business questions, develop analytics solutions, and translate data into meaningful insights that inform strategic decision-making
Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and dashboards using tools like Amazon QuickSight to provide real-time visibility into business metrics and operational performance
Build and maintain a comprehensive set of operational and business metrics, establishing standardized definitions across the catalog ecosystem and identifying improvement opportunities
Apply analytical techniques and SQL to analyze large datasets, identify trends, perform root cause analysis, and present findings in a clear and effective manner to stakeholders
Partner with software development and engineering teams to implement analytics systems and data structures that support large-scale data analysis while ensuring consistent data quality

A day in the life
As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you\'ll work at the intersection of data and business impact. Your day might include collaborating with product managers and software developers to understand their most pressing questions, then diving into petabytes of catalog data to uncover trends and opportunities. You\'ll design and maintain data pipelines, build interactive dashboards using Amazon QuickSight, and translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders. You\'ll also partner with engineering teams to implement analytics systems that support large-scale data analysis, ensuring data quality and consistency across our organization.
About the team
We are establishing a new centralized Business Intelligence team within Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems (ASCS) to build self-service analytical products that provide relevant insights across the business. Our team operates under Catalog Support Programs, which provides program management, technical support, and strategic initiatives to enhance the customer experience. We\'re focused on bringing structure and discipline to how we define and track metrics across the catalog ecosystem, establishing a single source of truth for critical data. Our vision is to shift toward a proactive, data-driven approach where teams can make informed decisions quickly. You\'ll work alongside applied scientists, product managers, and software developers who are committed to innovation and raising the bar on both quality and performance. By joining us, you\'ll help empower teams across ASCS to make decisions that drive growth and enhance the customer experience for shoppers worldwide.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g. t-test, Chi-squared)
Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)
Preferred Qualifications
Master\'s degree, or Advanced technical degree
Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
Experience with statistical analysis, co-relation analysis
