Our client, A large transmission & distribution contractor, is seeking a
Director of Operations
to lead its
substation construction business
in California.
This role is responsible for
safe, efficient, and profitable execution
of substation projects, along with
oversight of business performance and growth
for the group.
Responsibilities
Oversee execution of
high-voltage substation construction projects , including both
civil and electrical scope (sitework, foundations, underground/duct bank, structural)
Manage multiple concurrent projects through project managers, superintendents, and field teams
Ensure performance across
safety, schedule, cost, and quality
Maintain accountability for
P&L performance , including forecasting, cost control, and margin management
Support and contribute to
revenue growth and expansion
of the substation business
Interface with
utility clients
and support ongoing relationship management
Lead hiring, development, and oversight of project and field staff
Qualifications
10–20+ years of experience with a
contractor in substation or T&D construction
Background delivering
large-scale substation projects
with both
civil and electrical components
Experience in roles such as:
Senior Project Manager
Operations Manager
Project Executive
Director-level leadership
Demonstrated experience
running or contributing to a P&L
Track record xywuqvp of supporting or leading
growth of a business unit or regional operation
Strong understanding of
field operations, project execution, and production management
Additional Considerations
Experience growing or helping scale a business line toward
$50M annual revenue
is preferred
Candidates should come from the
contractor side , with a focus on
driving safe, profitable production
