
Senior Tax Accountant

Position Summary
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing business and individual tax returns, performing tax research, and serving as a client liaison to support long‑term financial planning. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong tax knowledge and a passion for client relationships and mentorship. You will collaborate with firm partners, coach junior team members, and support business development initiatives.
Description of Duties
Tax Technical Responsibilities
Prepare and review complex business returns (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065) and individual tax returns.
Create and review detailed work papers to support tax filings.
Conduct tax research using platforms such as Checkpoint and other firm tools and clearly communicate findings to clients.
Deliver high‑quality work within expected timeframes and budget parameters.
Support partners and senior leaders in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
Develop and begin executing a Personal Marketing Plan.
Mentor and lead a high‑performing tax team: promote continuous learning
Client Relationship Management
Establish and maintain strong trusted client relationships through regular communication and occasional on‑site visits.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their goals and delivering proactive tax guidance.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of client businesses and industries.
Team Leadership and Development
Mentor and train entry‑level staff and interns by offering guidance and serving as a professional role model.
Support team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Recommended Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
CPA license or actively pursuing CPA designation.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in public or private accounting.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Experience in a paperless office environment is preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
