The Electrical Engineer I is an entry‑level position that works under the guidance of senior engineers. Key responsibilities include designing electrical wiring, systems, and electronic projects across industries, analyzing and defining wire harness topology, optimizing packaging, and providing support during vehicle bring‑up and validation. The role uses software tools for CAN communication, diagnostic trouble codes, and detailed schematics to manufacture LV and HV assemblies. Onsite support for troubleshooting and diagnosis during vehicle validation is also critical.
Responsibilities
Assist with design solutions following vehicle requirements by engaging internal and external customers.
Learn and apply industry standards to optimize packaging and retention strategies.
Maintain packaging of electrical components in a 3D environment and support regular design reviews with customers.
Support the design, development, and release of vehicle harness assembly prints using EDS tools such as Mentor Graphics, Zuken E3, or similar.
Sign off on wire harness prints during electrical system compatibility reviews.
Assist in overall electrical development, BOM creation, and harness/vehicle builds.
Maintain DFMEA, DVP, and supporting documentation.
Act as liaison with program teams, CAE analysis groups, suppliers, and assembly for design‑responsible parts.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and document vehicle‑level electrical issues, performing root‑cause analysis with CAN tools, DVM, oscilloscope, or similar.
Support test plans, perform analytical circuit functionality tests, and inspect first‑article assemblies from suppliers for compliance with released designs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Must be a U.S. Person for ITAR compliance (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, or asylee/refugee).
Basic electrical design experience using industry standards.
Ability to read, understand, and create electrical schematics with a solid grasp of electrical and electronics fundamentals.
Proficiency with test and measuring equipment such as oscilloscope and DVM.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to produce concise technical reports.
Preferred Skills
Experience with schematic and harness detailing software.
Familiarity with CAN tools for diagnostic trouble codes and vehicle data logging.
Knowledge of low‑volume production manufacturing and assembly.
Understanding of ISO9001 and AS9100 processes and procedures.
SAE experience (FSAE/Baja/etc.).
