Required qualifications:
This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of TS clearance with SCI eligibilityand the ability to pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request- contract requires TS/SCI with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in a field of study applicable to the position with 8+ years of relevant experience. 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. A minimum of 8 years of experience in a previous System Administration role.
Experience in system installation, patchingand testing, and system configuration of networked services, file systems,basicscriptingand authentication experience
Operating System administration skills for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.xand laterto include building systems up from bare metal, performing software package installation,operating systemand application troubleshooting, and implementing security hardening
Apply patches, updates, and hotfixes using Red Hat Satellite, YUM, or DNF
Experience ensuringconsistent software versions across environments and systemsare current
Experience diagnosing / resolvingsystem issues, analyze system logs usingjournalctl,dmesg, or /var/log
Direct experienceworking inWindows and/or Linux operating systems
Maintain detailed system documentationin Confluence,Gitor other similar tools
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with virtualization/cloud-based technologies (e.g.OpenStack, CitrixXenServerRed Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and/or VMWare), Docker Containers, Ansible,and/orHeat templates
Manage load balancing and failover systems

Peraton is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator in our Herndon, VA or Aurora, CO office in support of the EMMETT program, a next-gen Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system- an enterprise capability that catalogs resident space objects (RSOs), identifies RSOs of interest, and delivers timely data to ground operators.
As part of the team you will support an exciting program which involves design, development, test, and deployment of a broad and complex system in an Agile construct to contribute to mission success for a variety of stakeholders.
What you'll do:
Support our cloud-based classified environment, ensuring the uptime of infrastructure
Perform daily system monitoring and monthlypatchingas part of the Operations and Maintenance(O&M)team
Manage operating system configurations, system documentation, performance tuning, software installationsand updates, system hardening, and storage allocation
Helpmonitorand maintainmission-critical,highly available, high-performance networked systems in a team-oriented environment
Work closely withotherengineering teams to improve our platforms andeliminatecomplexity from architecture and processes
Monitor and address tenant discrepancy reports
Monitor and manage system resources tomaintainefficiency
