Room Attendant
Located at Holiday Inn & Suites Virginia Beach North Beach, this position reports to the Executive Housekeeper.
Basic Purpose:
The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and overall presentation of guest rooms and assigned areas of the hotel to ensure a comfortable and welcoming environment for guests. This role supports the housekeeping department by following established cleaning standards, responding to guest requests, and maintaining supplies and equipment necessary to perform daily duties. The Room Attendant plays a key role in delivering a positive guest experience by ensuring guest rooms and service areas consistently meet company cleanliness and quality standards.
Essential Functions:
Clean and maintain assigned guest rooms, bathrooms, and service areas in accordance with housekeeping departmental standards.
Perform cleaning duties in guest rooms, public spaces, and designated back-of-house areas as assigned.
Ensure all guest rooms are properly stocked with linens, towels, amenities, and other required supplies.
Respond promptly to guest requests for items such as cribs, cots, extra towels, or other miscellaneous amenities.
Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to the appropriate department promptly.
Maintain housekeeping carts and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Follow departmental procedures for handling lost and found items.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
Follow all housekeeping policies, safety guidelines, and sanitation procedures.
Consistently provide professional, friendly, and courteous service to guests and team members.
Assist other departments when necessary to support overall hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
1. Previous housekeeping, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
2. Experience maintaining cleanliness and organization in a professional environment is beneficial.
3. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, supplies, and sanitation procedures preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Strong communication and organizational skills.
2. Strong interpersonal and guest service skills.
3. Ability to work efficiently and maintain attention to detail.
4. Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to respond to guest requests promptly.

Hours Required:
This position requires a flexible schedule based on operational needs. Hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift. The position also requires the ability to operate housekeeping equipment and cleaning tools while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
