Job Title
The Wheatland School District was established in 1871, when the former Bear River School District was divided into Virginia and Wheatland School Districts. The town of Wheatland is valued by its residents for its small-town atmosphere and rural setting. Located in Northern California's Central Valley along State Route 65 in Yuba County, Wheatland is approximately one mile north of the Bear River and the tri-county boundary of Sutter, Placer, and Yuba Counties with 40 miles north of Sacramento. Beale Air Force Base is located eight miles to the northeast, and many students from the base's military families attend Wheatland School District schools.
Basic Function: Under the direction of the Superintendent or Chief Business Official, perform a variety of complex and advanced accounting duties related to preparation of certificated and classified payroll, and to the maintenance of employee health and welfare benefits; ensure employees are paid according to established guidelines in a timely manner; process all payroll records and monitor data related to classified or certificated employees and their compensation and benefits. This classification requires considerable discretion, professionalism, initiative, accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to multitask within strict timelines, and effective communication skills.
Requirements / Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to two years of college-level coursework in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a similar field, and two years of increasingly responsible experience in payroll and benefits, preferably in a local educational agency. Physical demands and working conditions: - Office environment; subject to frequent interruptions and continual deadlines - Considerable use of a computer terminal - Long periods of intense concentration
