Agent Cashier/Teller
Duties
Agent Cashiers/Teller performs a very critical role within the VA system, and functions independently with a broad knowledge base and receives minimal supervision. Duties involve cashier activities composed of the collection and disbursement of funds and proper distribution of cash items pertaining to the operation of the assigned Medical Center. In this capacity, incumbent is designated as an authorized Agent of the Treasury Department, and is personally held responsible for the Treasury's advance. Duties to include but not limited to:
Broad working knowledge of all banking, treasury, accounting procedure, policies to include regulations, practices, procedures, and policies concerning the receipt, disbursement and accountability of funds.
Knowledge of a wide variety of interrelated steps, conditions, procedures or processes required to assemble, review, and maintain complex fiscal transactions.
Knowledge of handbooks, and other financial regulations, laws, and requirements related to agent cashier/teller operations.
Knowledge of Beneficiary Travel System and able to answer payment questions.
Knowledge and skill in the use of computer equipment with a wide variety of software such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook,
Knowledge of negotiability, validity and genuineness of cash items.
Knowledge of automated financial system to reconcile errors that require an understanding of nonstandard procedures.
Ability to analyze work requirements and determine resources, equipment and other needs to accomplish work assignments.
Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Balances funds daily. Reviews documents for acceptability, mathematical accuracy and completeness.
Knowledge of debit and credit principles of each disbursement or collection in order to perform accurate accounting functions.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
