Summary Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest standards of safety across all airport operations. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. You will conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and recommending preventive measures. Additionally, the Safety Manager collaborates with various departments and personnel to promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines for airport operations
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of airport facilities and equipment
Identify and assess safety hazards and risks in airport operations
Collaborate with airport management and staff to address safety concerns
Provide safety training and education to employees at all levels
Investigate safety incidents and accidents, and recommend preventive measures
Monitor safety performance metrics and report on trends and improvements
Stay informed about industry best practices and safety advancements
Participate in emergency response planning and drills
Review and approve safety-related documentation and reports
Coordinate with regulatory agencies for safety inspections and certifications
Conduct safety meetings and communicate safety updates to airport teams
Lead safety improvement initiatives and promote a culture of safety awareness
Prepare and present safety reports to senior management and regulatory authorities
Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
18 years of age or older
Eligible to work in the United States
Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Minimum of 3 years of experience in aviation safety management
Thorough knowledge of aviation safety regulations and industry best practices
Proven experience in safety program development and implementation
Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices such as iPads, Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
Pass a background check and drug screen
Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal as applicable)
Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
