Senior Scientist 1 – Environmental Investigation & Remediation
This is an exciting opportunity to join—and help shape—our growing Environmental Investigation and Remediation Group. If you’re energized by solving complex environmental challenges, enjoy leading people and projects, and want a meaningful voice in building a dynamic practice, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their needs and developing practical, effective solutions
Lead and inspire multidisciplinary project teams, driving accountability, quality, and momentum
Own project performance—managing scope, budget, schedule, risk, and profitability
Build and strengthen long‑term client relationships and strategic partnerships
Mentor staff and contribute to developing the next generation of technical and project leaders
Provide technical leadership on advanced environmental work, including:
Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
Soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigations
Response action plans supporting remediation and redevelopment
Brownfield redevelopment
Knowledge and experience with local environmental investigation and clean‑up grants
Oversight of remedial activities and compliance monitoring
Scope development, cost estimating, and proposal preparation
Data analysis and report writing
Travel locally and regionally as needed (up to ~20%)
What Sets You Apart
A BS degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
Licensure/certification as a Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, CHMM or related, and/or ability to be registered/certified within 12 months
Significant, in‑depth hands‑on environmental experience, typically gained through 10–20 years of progressively responsible work aligned with the position’s duties
Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations and programs serving industrial, energy, and commercial clients
Demonstrated knowledge of brownfield redevelopment, including assessment, risk management, regulatory engagement, grant writing/management, and support of redevelopment goals
Proven leadership and mentoring experienceA genuine interest in business development and growing client relationships
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Compensation Range
$88,000.00 – $131,000.00
