Bilingual Family Liaison
AFSCME, LANE V, 10‑month position. Hours Monday‑Friday, 7:30 AM‑4:00 PM; some evenings/special events as needed.
General Function
Initial contact for non‑English speaking parents/students.
Assist in the registration of students in school and other activities.
Translate communications used by the school district.
Answer incoming and outgoing phone calls within the school district.
Schedule and attend meetings with parents, principals, and staff.
Translate behavior/suspension reports and contact parents as needed.
Report and assist with attendance issues.
Assist with lunch applications.
Assist the police liaison and youth worker.
Translate social media information.
Conduct home visits as needed.
Identify homeless students and complete student/family resident questionnaires.
Assist office staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
Provide culture reference.
Notary public service.
Serve on the Parent Advisory Committee.
Serve on the District Security Committee.
Write a column for bilingual newspapers.
Working Conditions
Normal office conditions.
Equipment Operation
General office equipment such as computer, phone, calculator, copier, etc.
Qualifications
Knowledge of general office skills. Must possess organizational, spelling and grammar skills necessary. Ability to maintain confidentiality, work with efficiency and accuracy, and carry out written and oral instructions.
High school graduate or equivalent with courses in computer, typing, and office skills. Experience and/or training in related areas.
Compensation
Starting pay is
$23.14
per hour.
