We are currently seeking an Editor for a nonprofit client in Washington, D.C. (NW). This is a full‑time, temporary assignment lasting three to six months, with the possibility of an extension. The position is hybrid with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Pay range: $33.00–$36.00 per hour.
Job Summary
Editors will work independently to ensure materials conform to established standards for style, content, and format.
Responsibilities
Substantive Editing: Developmental and structural editing, rewriting, and collaborating closely with authors to resolve inconsistencies while maintaining the original meaning.
Copyediting: Line editing for grammar, spelling, and mechanics, as well as styling references and verifying non‑text elements like formulas and figures.
Proofreading: Reviewing typeset reports and PDFs to identify typographical errors, layout issues, and deviations from specifications using Adobe annotations or standard marks.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of three years of related professional experience.
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word (Track Changes and Styles) and ability to exercise independent judgment in a team environment.
