The Assistant Digital Editor uses their knowledge of digital media and food and home topics to create, edit, and update content that drives traffic and grows audiences. The person in this role collaborates with the Editorial, Commerce, SEO, and Newsletter teams. The Assistant Editor nimbly takes on new projects as assigned by the editorial team.
Responsibilities
Pitch and write/edit articles in food, home and commerce verticals
Assist various editors with content building, updating, optimizing, and editing as needed
Use research, analytics, and performance data to make decisions about content optimization and programming for best content performance
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
Strong industry experience—web, entertainment/lifestyle media, new platforms (mobile, social, etc.)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Initiative to work independently and proactively, and ability to assess and prioritize information
Strong writing skills, specifically to fit the voice of the overall brand/site strategy
Broad understanding of online food, home, and commerce content
Ability to manage and thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
Knowledge of primary research, writing, editing, and copy style
Familiarity with content management systems
Experience using SEO analytics tools to analyze large data sets
