Responsibilities
We’re looking for a key member of our On Demand digital team, which is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the technical stack and portals for Frontdoor’s rapidly growing non‑warranty business.
Work closely with team members to understand, define, and refine the technical design, approach, and implementation necessary to deliver project enhancements.
Collaborate with other senior engineering members to ensure our systems work together cohesively.
As a component owner for systems spanning multiple platforms, refactor critical code, design extensible solutions, translate abstract engineering goals into actionable deliverables, and implement complex features.
Implement functionality that meets the acceptance criteria, successfully passes automated test cases as defined in a test plan, and meets coding standards.
Work with team to establish benchmarks around the work done in Web App or in Backend.
Determine where the bottlenecks are and how to implement better solutions.
Look at non‑familiar code and identify issues, while improving overall quality of system, and helping team members with debugging issues.
Write documentation and unit tests for code to be written.
Debug and resolve production issues and create subsequent mitigation plans.
Optimize performance and improve scalability of existing implementations.
Prioritize tasks with Scrummaster that leads the team to be successful.
Bring forward ideas to experiment and work in teams to transform ideas to reality.
Build the right data structures, add indices to fix performance issues, and determine data structures that perform best with respect to third‑party integrations.
May include other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Advanced understanding of computer science fundamentals, such as data structures (trees, graphs, hash tables); understanding of functioning and implementation of basic algorithms, such as sorts, searching, and the capability to explain performance characteristics using Big‑O Notations.
Capability to debug moderately complex problems and analyze logs in production systems and to read existing code.
Deep understanding of various data storage options, such as relational, no‑SQL, etc.
Excellent scripting skill in Shell, Python, or Ruby.
Excellent skills in languages, such as C, C++, Java, Golang, .net Core.
Excellent skills in frontend development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or Typescript, and modern frameworks such as React.
Experience in defining process with clear objectives and ways to measure the effectiveness of the process.
Ability to be on call on a rotating basis for the services owned by the team.
Preferred Skills
Strong leadership skills with capability to lead a team of engineers.
Experience in developing products in an Agile development environment.
Experience working in a CI/CD environment.
Understanding of Git and development activities such as merge and conflict resolution of code.
Understanding and experience in Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS cloud services.
Physical Role Requirements
:Be seated at a computer intermittently for up to eight hours a day. Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects. Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers and phones. Repetitive motions using hands and digits, such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching, and typing during your normal working environment.
Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience required:
7+ years product development experience required.
Compensation
