Quality Engineer II
Pay range: $93-112k DOE
This position is located in Syracuse, NY.
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer II works within the Quality team to ensure the overall quality of Bluefors and Cryomech products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collect, monitor, and analyze daily quality data for incoming vendor inventory, production, qualification, and shipping.
Coordinate with QA & QC Technicians to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Monitor critical parts and inventory, collaborating with purchasing for problem resolution.
Develop expertise in Global Shop Solutions (ERP) for quality data, Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR) transactions, and trend analysis.
Document non-conformances and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Oversee quality, environmental, and health and safety KPIs, ensuring metrics are tracked, trended, and reported.
Investigate product complaints and quality issues, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory standards.
Monitor risk-management procedures, using logs to identify recurring issues for management and product development teams.
Attend weekly production meetings, provide status updates, and address issues.
Focus on continuous improvement of product and process quality.
Lead and support process improvement initiatives.
Regularly communicate with next-level management.
Recommend and support the implementation of quality, safety, and environmental program improvements.
Perform additional duties as required to support departmental and company goals.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Control within a manufacturing environment. Preferred certifications include Lean Six Sigma, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA). Additionally, experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, or IATF 16949 is highly desirable.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, training documents, and drawings
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with AC and DC motor controls, including a variety of servomotor controls
Strong knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools
Ability to generate non-conformity reports, using 8D methodologies and structured problem-solving tools, i.e., 5 Whys, Ishikawa Diagrams, A4

This job operates in and out of a professional office environment. This position will have work that may be in an office or manufacturing setting. This position interacts with both internal and external customers in a professional, courteous manner, while keeping information confidential as needed. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, and copiers. This role routinely uses standard quality measurement tools and gages, such as caliper, micrometers, gage pins, CMM, DMM, and thread plugs & rings. While in the manufacturing environment, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles; heat; cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud. Mandatory PPE must be worn as required.
