Duties include applying uniform traffic control procedures and skills; supervisory of one utility worker or overseeing the work of a small crew composed of utility workers; and regularly interfacing with Crew Leader.**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES*** Assists upper level personnel in various traffic control and routing functions on a daily basis.* Works alone or supervises a small crew.* Provides proper barricading and channeling of traffic through or around work zones and retrieves all devices when job is complete.* Provides written diagrams of traffic control placement within work zones.* Responds to 24-hour emergency call outs and will be required to carry pager/cellular phone on a rotational shift arrangement.* Assembles/organizes
all traffic control devices/spaces.* Maintains and repairs all traffic control devices in stock.* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**Any combination of training and experience with a minimum of 2 years’ Traffic Control experience with Certification. Requires High School Diploma preferred or (GED).
A good working knowledge of uniform traffic control procedures is a must. Completion of at least sixteen (16) hours formal training in Construction Barricading and Traffic Safety procedures within the probationary year is required.
Possession of a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver License (with "N" tanker endorsement) is required.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*** Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints and diagrams is a must.* Working knowledge of directional signal arrow boards/message boards and a one-ton truck.* Ability to use various types of traffic channeling devices - barricades, cones, dividers, traffic signs, etc.* Thorough knowledge of Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) rules and procedures.* Ability to supervise a small crew composed of utility workers.* Ability to effectively communicate with crew leaders and foreman.* Understanding of and the ability to train others in the use of traffic control devices and their application.**ADA PROFILE**Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
