Downtown Garage Parking Security Officer

Securitas is hiring for part-time security officers immediately to help keep our clients site safe in downtown Burlington, Vermont!
Pay: $22.11/hr
Schedule: Sunday and Monday overnights, 11:30 pm - 7:30 am (16 hours)
This position is for a temporary detail which will run until the end of October 2026. Once the contract ends, our hiring team will be happy to assist you in finding other sites to continue working with Securitas on a permanent basis!
No security experience required - growth opportunity available. Whether you are just starting your career or in retirement Securitas is a great choice!
Qualifications
Excellent observational and de-escalation skills; able to remain calm under pressure.
Strong communicator; capable of working closely with both global and local security teams.
Committed to ethical practices and following all safety protocols, always maintaining a safe and respectful approach.
Basic to intermediate computer skills required.
Requirements
At least 18 years of age.
Must have the ability to apply for and receive a Vermont Guard Card - our team will assist you in applying for this license post-hire!
Reliable means of communication and transportation.
Legal right to work in the United States.
Ability to effectively speak, read and write English.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Scope of Work:
- Actively patrol the facility on foot, going up and down the stairwells and ramps.
- Engage with customers and ask people to move on if disruptive behavior is noticed.
- Actively cycle through the downtown garage areas using a marked vehicle in a systematic and thorough fashion.
- The security guard shall ensure there is no loitering, sleeping or other disruptive behavior on or near the property.
- The security guard shall call police as is necessary to ensure the health and safety of staff and the public.
- Respond to customer needs as is appropriate.
- Be helpful and courteous.
- Direct customers to the garage staff as is appropriate.
- A standardized daily report of activities must be executed by the security guard, including but not limited to:
Tour reporting
Lock / unlocking of doors
Abnormal incidents
Mechanical failures (elevators, kiosks, lighting, etc.)
Maintenance needs
Cleaning needs
