Civil Science is seeking an experienced
Transportation Design Project Manager
to support and grow our Utah transportation practice. This is a high‑impact leadership role focused on project delivery, client relationship management, business development, and—importantly—mentoring and developing the next generation of engineers and project leaders.
In this role, you will lead transportation design projects for UDOT and local municipalities, guiding work from pursuit through delivery while helping expand our presence across northern Utah. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high‑quality infrastructure solutions, while also playing a hands‑on role in coaching, mentoring, and growing team members into future leaders.
This is a strategic hire tied directly to our long‑term growth plan. You will step into active project opportunities, help stabilize and lead delivery, and contribute to expanding our footprint in the region. What You’ll Get to Do:
Lead and manage transportation design projects for UDOT and municipal clients
Oversee scope, schedule, and budget across multiple concurrent projects
Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and provide technical oversight
Support and mentor junior engineers and project managers
Build and maintain strong client relationships with public‑sector partners
Actively participate in business development, proposals, and project pursuits
Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth initiatives in Utah
Ensure quality control and adherence to agency standards and requirements
Track project performance and make adjustments to maintain success
Contribute to long‑term planning and market expansion efforts
What Qualifications You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Utah licensure required or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
Minimum 12+ years of transportation design experience
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Strong understanding of roadway, drainage, utility, or traffic design
Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff
Strong communication and client management skills
What Will Help You Stand Out:
UDOT project experience or strong familiarity with Utah agencies
Experience with ProjectWise, Bluebeam, or similar tools
Background in roadway, drainage, or traffic design
Experience with proposal development and business development
Previous experience mentoring or supervising staff
