Marketing Communications Intern

Nashville Public Radio, Spring, TX, United States

The Opportunity:

Not many internships give you the chance to work across two states at once. AJR Media Group is the publishing team behind TourTexas.com and TourLouisiana.com — regional tourism platforms that help travelers discover destinations, events, and experiences across the South. We work with destination marketing organizations, local tourism boards, and travel brands every day, and we tell their stories through newsletters, social media, web content, and client-facing creative. As our Marketing & Communications Intern, you'll work directly alongside our creative and content team — contributing to real campaigns, supporting live projects, and getting a ground-level view of how tourism marketing actually works. This isn't a filing-and-fetching role. You'll be in the work.
What You'll Work On:

Day-to-day tasks will vary based on the season and team priorities, and may include:
Writing and editing copy for social media, newsletters, and web content across Tour Texas and Tour Louisiana • Supporting email newsletter production — from copy drafts to layout review
Assisting with content scheduling and social media calendar management
Drafting client-facing communications and marketing materials
Helping research and develop content ideas tied to events, seasons, and regional destinations
Contributing to UGC sourcing and content organization efforts
Supporting internal creative projects as they come up across both brands
What You'll Walk Away With:

By the end of your internship, you'll have hands-on experience in:
Tourism and destination marketing — a niche with real career depth
Editorial content strategy across multiple channels and audiences
Multi-brand content management and voice differentiation
Email marketing fundamentals: strategy, copy, structure, and audience targeting
Professional client communication in a B2B media environment
How a lean, creative media team operates from the inside
You’ll also leave with a portfolio of real, published work — not hypothetical class projects.
You're a Great Fit If You…

Write well and care about the details — clear, polished copy matters here
Are curious about travel, regional culture, and what makes a place worth visiting
Can shift between tasks and brands without losing focus
Like a creative environment where no two weeks look exactly the same
Are proactive — you ask questions, take initiative, and follow through
Have an eye for content that performs, not just content that looks good

Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
Strong writing skills with the ability to match tone and voice across different audiences
