Summary
The Driskill joined the Hyatt family of hotels in 2013 and has become a benchmark for the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Since its opening in 1886 the hotel has been an integral part of the fabric in the City of Austin. The Chief Accountant position is a unique opportunity to join a growing company in a strategic role that assists the overall operation. The Chief Accountant reports directly to the Director of Finance and plays a key role in supporting all hotel accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, and financial reporting. This position partners closely with the Director of Finance to support financial reviews, reporting, and analysis while contributing to the overall accuracy and efficiency of the accounting function. The right candidate for this position will be organized, detail oriented, possess strong systems knowledge, and feel comfortable interacting with hotel leaders on a regular basis. This is a non-supervisory role focused on Accounts Receivable execution, financial support, and analysis rather than ownership of the close process or direct reconciliation responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries and accruals as assigned to support accurate financial reporting

Review general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and identify unusual or inconsistent transactions

Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes by preparing supporting schedules, documentation, and analysis

Support the Director of Finance in reviewing financial results, identifying trends, and explaining variances

Participate in monthly financial reviews and assist the Director of Finance with the presentation of financial reports

Assist the Director of Finance with special reporting and analysis projects for corporate office and hotel ownership

Support variance analysis and partner with the GENPAC team to research and investigate financial discrepancies

Provide oversight and review of Accounts Payable processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies (no direct processing responsibilities)

Manage Accounts Receivable operations, including billbacks to other hotels and third parties, monitoring AR aging, following up on outstanding balances, researching and resolving discrepancies, and supporting AR-related reconciliation

Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and supporting schedules

Ensure compliance with Hyatt policies, procedures, and internal controls

Collaborate with operational departments to ensure adherence to financial procedures and controls

Identify opportunities for process improvements and support implementation of best practices

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance

Qualifications

2-4 years of accounting or finance experience, hospitality preferred

Foundational knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end processes

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (Oracle preferred)

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage priorities independently while supporting multiple stakeholders

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with hotel leadership

Degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality, Business or related field preferred

Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information along with high levels of accuracy and efficiency

Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
