Senior Microsoft Power Platform Developer
Richmond, VA (Hybrid: 3 days/week onsite)
Compensation: $60-$80/hr (DOE)
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Senior Microsoft Power Platform Developer to lead the design, implementation, and migration of business solutions using the full suite of Power Platform tools, including Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven), Power BI, and Power Automate. This hybrid position, based in Richmond, VA, requires deep expertise in SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365 services, and custom development with .NET, C#, and Azure. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and configuring applications, automating business processes, integrating data sources, and ensuring adherence to best practices and governance standards. You will also be responsible for leading requirements gathering, mentoring junior team members, participating in Agile development cycles, and creating comprehensive technical documentation and mockups. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and relevant certifications are highly valued for this position.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design, develop, and configure Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven) and Power Automate flows to meet business requirements, utilizing Dataverse and Microsoft 365 services
Implement business process automation solutions tailored to organizational needs using Power Platform and Microsoft 365
Lead requirements gathering sessions and functionality discovery workshops with business stakeholders
Develop custom solutions using .NET, SQL, Azure, and C#, ensuring seamless integration with multiple data sources via APIs or REST services
Functionally map business needs to Power Platform solutions, developing applications that address identified use cases
Participate in code reviews, enforce development standards, and ensure best practices are followed in all development activities
Troubleshoot and resolve Power Platform issues, document solutions, and collaborate with system administrators and IT teams to implement fixes
Create comprehensive technical documentation, design solutions, and mockups/prototypes to support common use cases
Define and refine governance approaches for Power Platform usage, ensuring compliance with best practices in business solution implementations
Mentor and coach junior team members in Power Platform development and best practices
Participate actively in Agile SDLC processes to deliver iterative, high‑quality solutions
Utilize DevOps practices in Power Platform environments, including Power Pipelines and ALM Accelerator (preferred)
Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges
WHAT YOU BRING
5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and migrating solutions utilizing Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate)
5+ years of experience with PowerShell scripting
5+ years of experience using standard and premium connectors with PowerApps and Power Automate
Experience mentoring or coaching junior team members (desired)
5+ years of custom development experience using .NET, JavaScript, and C# (preferred)
Experience developing Azure Logic Apps and Functions to support Power Automate
Experience with DevOps in Power Platform environments, including Power Pipelines and ALM Accelerator (preferred)
PowerApps Professional or PowerApps Developer certification (preferred)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive technical approach
