
New Product Development Designer

POSITION SUMMARY
The New Product Development Designer is responsible for the design of new products for the company’s growing steel Shed / Carport / Garage product categories. Tasks will include development of both 3D component and assembly models, as well as 2D drawings; fabrication of new designed components; and assembly of new products. This position may be required from time-to-time, depending on company priorities, to also develop new products within the company’s other product portfolios (fabric shelters, pop-ups, gazebos, etc.)
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizing CREO 3D software, create new and modify existing component and assembly models/drawings for the company’s various product lines
Working directly with the Business Unit and Sales Team, design and develop these new products, taking them from concept to prototype and then full production
Provide all necessary assembly drawings, detailed drawings, and BOMs for Operations to manufacture these new products
Complete any assembly, prototyping, testing and/or evaluation of these new designs
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & COMPETENCIES
Working knowledge of CREO 3D CAD Modeling software
Strong knowledge of the detailed design of components from metal tube bending to roll forming and swaging
Ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team
Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)
Ability to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea in a highly competitive Consumer Products industry
Ability to maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail, meeting aggressive project deadlines
Ability to develop and present new ideas and look beyond the standard solution
Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
