Position Summary
Ambulatory Care Nurse – NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Garden City (OB/GYN PP). The Nurse will support coordination, integration, communication, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies. Responsibilities include participating in quality improvement activities, collecting patient data, and collaborating with providers to develop patient-centered care plans.

Job Responsibilities

Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests.

Collect patient health history and record information in the electronic health record.

Provide information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans.

Administer medications, including vaccination, IV therapy, oxygen, and provide wound care; perform triage for clinical concerns.

Assess and monitor patient responses to treatments, procedures, and anesthesia.

Consult with clinical supervisors and providers to determine best treatment plans.

Direct, supervise, and delegate to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and technicians to support patient flow.

Perform other duties as needed.

Support the coordination, integration, communication, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies.

Ensure clinical compliance with Patient Safety initiatives and reporting.

Support key quality initiatives (e.g., MIPS, Care gap management) to impact clinical outcomes.

Demonstrate knowledge of NYULH Service Standards.

Participate in activities related to NYULH clinical standards and agency regulations.

Support the missions, philosophy, standards, goals, and objectives of NYULH, Departments of Nursing, and FGP.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and promote collegial relationships.

Serve as a resource for nursing and clinical staff.

Participate in clinical inquiry and activities to foster evidence-based practice.

Embrace ethical obligations and patient confidentiality.

Provide emergency care in accordance with organizational policy.

Function as a respectful member of the health care team.

Delegate and oversee specific nursing interventions to implement patient care plans.

Execute medical regimens prescribed by licensed providers.

Assess patients, identify needs, and plan comprehensive care.

Identify and report co-morbidities or emergent complications.

Integrate care with other health providers.

Provide direct care services including treatments, medication administration, and health counseling.

TASK/PROCEDURE

Collect and document patient clinical history and assessment data.

Perform onsite testing (POC lab, EKG, specimen collection, etc.).

Perform medical and nursing treatments per plan of care.

Execute procedures such as applications, orthopedic appliance management, dressing changes, and wound care.

Monitor patients pre-, intra-, and post-procedure.

Administer medications via various routes, including oxygen therapy.

Facilitate medication refills and prepare orders for provider authorization.

Administer IV therapy, including blood products and chemotherapy.

Start and discontinue peripheral IV lines, maintain lines, and manage complications.

Communication and Message Management

Manage clinical in-baskets and close encounters promptly.

Document and report critical lab values.

Relay clinical results and follow-up to patients.

Prioritize urgent findings and notify provider for verification.

Perform triage for patient concerns and provide RN-level advice.

Manage a defined population via multidisciplinary coordination.

Health Promotion & Education

Identify patient, family, or community health deviations and advocate appropriate actions.

Collect and analyze patient data to determine health status and nursing diagnoses.

Report deviations to providers and facilitate urgent care escalation.

Define expected outcomes and prepare individualized patient plans.

Educate patients and families to promote healthy adjustment.

Implement interventions and evaluate patient progress toward outcomes.

Patient Experience

Act as an ambassador for NYU Langone Health’s brand, upholding mission, vision, and values.

Drive consistency in patient and colleague encounters by embodying the FGP Service Strategy CARES.

Greet patients, communicate steps of care, and manage expectations.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a positive experience and timely resolution.

Apply the LEARN model for service recovery and provide input for improvement.

Partner with Patient Access Center and Billing Office to enhance patient experience.

Ensure staff are trained in Access Agreement principles.

Minimum Qualifications
Registered Professional Nurse in New York. If hired after 9/1/25: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Associate Degree in Nursing may be approved if accompanied by a Baccalaureate enrollment and two years of relevant nursing experience.

Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.

Required Licenses
Registered Nurse License (NYS), Basic Life Support Certification.

Preferred Qualifications
ACLS certification and membership in relevant professional organizations.

Qualified candidates must effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary range for the role: $117,977.99 - $117,978.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other compensation.
