What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:
Responsibilities will vary depending on the interests and skill set of the selected candidate. The selected candidate will supervise and be a technical resource on various groundwater‑related activities related to well siting, hydrogeologic field investigations, well drilling programs, regional groundwater management, groundwater modeling, permitting, environmental compliance or recharge projects. Responsibilities that can be assigned include the following: Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples for laboratory analysis; coordinate with laboratories; and organize data.
Collect, manage and evaluate hydrogeologic data in support of groundwater supply and groundwater management projects.
Communicate and coordinate with subcontractors, contractors, and clients to promote project success.
Deploy, operate, and maintain groundwater and surface water monitoring instrumentation.
Develop borehole lithology logs and as‑built well construction diagrams.
Develop hydrogeologic conceptual models based on data from state managed databases, aquifer tests, and published/unpublished reports.
Oversee drilling contractors during water well drilling, monitoring well drilling, and aquifer testing.
Prepare reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
Responsible for completing work in safe manner in accordance with company Health and Safety Plans
Support and coordinate with geophysical subcontractors for surface and downhole geophysical surveys.
What you will need to succeed:
B.S. (M.S. desirable) in geology, hydrogeology, civil engineering, or water resources‑related field.
4-8 years of professional experience with an engineering consulting firm, public agency, or otherwise within water resources, groundwater, or closely related fields.
California and/or Arizona registration (preferred) as a geologist‑in‑training, professional geologist, certified hydrogeologist, or professional engineer.
Experience designing or overseeing installation of monitoring, production, and/or ASR wells.
Experience establishing monitoring networks or supporting investigations through hydrogeologic fieldwork, data visualization programs (e.g., GIS, Logplot, Leapfrog) and related analytical analysis (e.g., AQTESOLV, Petra, MODFLOW, Javelin Pro+).
Knowledge of California and/or Arizona regulations and permitting requirements.
Experience in well or recharge project siting, design, construction, and testing.
Excellent organizational, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
$90,000 - $100,000 a year
