Job Summary:
Atlanta News First is seeking a highly skilled and visually driven Special Projects Photojournalist/Editor to join our award-winning team. You’ll help craft highly produced, visually engaging special projects that highlight our connection to the community. From daily deep dives to long-form specials, you’ll work side-by-side with reporters and producers to shoot, shape, and elevate storytelling that makes a difference.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Execute multi-camera shoots and cinematic lighting, focusing on clean audio and strong composition.
Shoot and edit high-quality video and interviews.
Edit in both quick‑turn and long‑form formats, building cohesive, compelling, and visually dynamic sequences.
Collaborate closely with special‑projects reporters and producers to shape a visual narrative and support impactful storytelling.
Use creative camera techniques, drone footage, and thoughtful b‑roll to enhance pacing and emotional depth.
Organize and manage media, maintain gear, and stay on top of post‑production workflows.
Help develop innovative visuals for special projects tied to community initiatives and station campaigns.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Degree in journalism or related field preferred.
Minimum five years of experience shooting and editing in a newsroom or documentary‑style setting.
Medium/large market experience preferred.
Strong storytelling instincts and an eye for detail in both photography and editing.
Experience with lighting, audio, and DSLR or ENG‑style cameras.
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with Edius and ENPS a plus.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
Must work well independently and as part of a team.
Drone experience and FAA Part 107 certification a plus.
Must provide a link to examples of recent work, including:
Long‑form content.
Day‑turn news package(s).
Live shot(s).
Graphics.
