Managing Consultant – Employee Benefits
Hybrid | Preference for Central time zone
Dallas, Texas - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

We’re seeking a Managing Consultant who will make a meaningful impact by delivering proactive client service, thoughtful benefits strategy, and a high-touch experience for both clients and employees.

This role supports clients by ensuring benefits programs are administered accurately, aligned with strategic objectives, and compliant with all regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
Client Partnership & Service Excellence
Lead and manage key client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts
Strategically oversee benefit programs, including plan design, funding strategy, renewals, and ongoing consultation
Confidently engage with C‑suite leaders, HR executives, and plan sponsors across organizations of varying size and complexity
Promote high client satisfaction through responsiveness, innovation, and confidence
Adapt communication style to align with client culture and leadership preferences
Operational & Compliance Excellence
Provide strategic guidance on employee benefits administration, compliance education, and risk management
Maintain deep knowledge of funding arrangements including self‑funded, captive, and fully insured plans
Stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends impacting employee benefits and communicate updates to clients
Collaborate with carriers, vendors, and internal specialty practices to deliver coordinated solutions
Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery aligned with Alera Group service standards
Growth & Retention
Develop and strengthen client relationships to support retention and long‑term growth
Act as a trusted advisor to senior partners, extending strategic vision and leadership influence
Demonstrate expertise supporting mid‑market and large group plans (100–1,500 lives)
Provide strategic insights for Private Equity‑owned and Captive groups, including cost containment, risk sharing, and financial strategies
Mentor and train client management team members, supporting professional development and team performance
Qualifications
What You Bring
Required
7–10+ years of experience in employee benefits account management or client relationship management
Prior management or leadership experience with the ability to mentor teams and oversee strategic initiatives
Strong experience with self‑funded, captive, and fully insured benefit plans
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly
Strong financial acumen and technical benefits expertise
Proven ability to make data‑driven decisions
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
Active Life & Health insurance license
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field
Experience advising Private Equity‑owned organizations
Strong project management skills

Additional Information
Compensation:
Salary range: $175,000 – $200,000 per year
