Overview
Senior Analyst provides support across three related focuses: (1) Clearing fixed income trades for BMO Bank, BMO Harris Investment Corp., or BMO Bank safekeeping customers; (2) Processing P&I payments and reconciling differences between custodians and internal systems of record; (3) Settlement and monitoring of internal and correspondent bank funding activity. Works closely with the Investment Portfolio Accounting team. Responsibilities include timely and accurate bond accounting reporting, onboarding and supporting securities and cash collateral management, and providing operational support for Federal Funds transactions. The role requires learning each focus to handle routine and non‑routine transactions, respond to inquiries, address audit requests, and solve complex issues in line with Bank and industry standards.

Responsibilities

Follow department SOX controls when processing daily work.

Review client inquiries (scheduled or on-demand), troubleshoot/resolve problems independently, and escalate unresolved issues per guidelines.

Investigate accounting and P&I breaks related to reconciliations and system entries.

Create, update, and document procedures for applications developed (BMAs); identify opportunities to improve processes for efficiency.

Act as SME to translate business objectives into implementable plans for small- to mid-sized initiatives, including process redesign aligned with change management and product support; represent technical needs for new or revised processes and systems.

Prepare daily and monthly reconciliation activities and reports; provide commentary on discrepancies and outliers.

Provide complete coverage of multiple desks during staffing shortages.

Maintain appropriate audit trails for all tasks.

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge

Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

1 to 2 years of securities or finance industry experience recommended

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, etc.)

Knowledge of fixed income securities; good understanding of business unit risk and regulatory requirements

$41,714.00 - $77,500.00
