
Sustainment Engineer Sr./Obsolescence

Description
You will be the Sustainment Engineer for the Infrared Search Track (IRST) Programs Logistics & Sustainment Engineering (LSE) team. Our team drives end‑to‑end logistics, sustainment planning, and obsolescence risk mitigation for the entire IRST product portfolio—from development through production and long‑term support.
Responsibilities
Own the Obsolescence & Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) effort for all IRST programs.
Partner with cross‑functional teams to identify at‑risk components, evaluate alternatives, and shape the lifecycle strategy that keeps systems flying reliably for customers.
Track and assess component obsolescence, supplier insolvency, and material scarcity across multiple program configurations.
Flag parts with less than five years to end of life (YTEOL) and lead root‑cause analyses to define sustainment options.
Research alternative parts, conduct engineering tests, and generate redesign or BOM change proposals.
Develop and maintain visual roadmaps of component and subsystem lifecycles to inform stakeholders.
Synthesize failure data, stock levels, repair processes, and performance periods to produce actionable life‑of‑need forecasts.
Prepare and deliver concise reports, briefings, and presentations for program leadership, customers, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
Write and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and related documentation to implement approved solutions.
Communicate risk and mitigation status clearly to customers, suppliers, and internal partners.
Support occasional travel to supplier sites, customer locations, or program reviews as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Experience in DMSMS.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Problem‑solving skills.
Self‑starter able to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word).
Secret clearance.
Ability to interface with a variety of information technology applications to create purchase requirements and to extract data.
Ability to review data and statuses and derive trends.
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
Technical / Electrical Engineering background or equivalent experience.
Supply chain background.
Knowledge of AMS/SCM.
Ability to work in a cross‑functional IPT environment.
Experience using SAP client applications.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and current modeling tools and techniques.
Additional Information
Location: Orlando, FL.
U.S. Citizen required for special access facility.
Final Secret security clearance required.
Schedule: 4×10‑hour day, 3 days off per week.
