The role involves independent work from specifications, technical orders, permits and government regulations to accomplish environmental activities related to hazardous waste management, including identification, labeling, collection, transport, storage, preparation for shipment, disposal, treatment, recycling and repackaging of hazardous wastes. The technician maintains knowledge of state, local and federal regulations, ensures proper segregation, labeling, documentation, and compliance. They operate and maintain equipment including forklift trucks, pickup trucks, and other motorized vehicles used for transporting, storing, cleanup and containment of hazardous wastes and materials. They also handle chemicals and supplies, provide remedial action and cleanup of spills, and respond to environmental hazards.
Position Responsibilities
Operate and assure assigned equipment such as forklift trucks, pickup trucks, and other motorized vehicles used for transporting, storing, cleanup, and containment of hazardous wastes and materials.
For assigned vehicles: refuel, maintain, check and report required maintenance.
Obtain and maintain any certifications and qualifications required for handling hazardous waste and materials.
Perform data entry/retrieval and analysis associated with work assignment.
Assist and provide advice and guidance associated with work assignment.
Perform receiving, inspection, record keeping, storage, inventory, dispensing, labeling, kiting, ordering and distribution of hazardous materials.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
1+ years experience with Microsoft Office suite.
1+ years experience handling and disposing hazardous materials according to government regulations.
1+ years experience in hazardous material management and responding to chemical/material spills.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years experience in executing data entry, retrieval, and inventory management.

This role is primarily second shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.
