Assistant Project Manager
Construction (Commercial & Residential)
Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial and residential construction projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, owners, subcontractors, and vendors, this role helps ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to company quality standards. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced, family-owned business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with day-to-day management of construction projects
Help coordinate schedules, subcontractors, suppliers, and deliveries
Track project progress, budgets, and timelines
Prepare and maintain project documentation (contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, permits)
Communicate with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal team members
Attend job site meetings and assist with site coordination as needed
Monitor job site safety and compliance with company policies and regulations
Assist with material takeoffs, ordering, and inventory tracking
Support close-out activities, including punch lists and final documentation
Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in construction management or related field (preferred)
Experience with residential and/or commercial construction is a plus
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and trades
Basic understanding of construction drawings, schedules, and budgets
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or construction management software
Ability to multitask and adapt in a hands-on, family-owned business environment
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Construction Management, Engineering, or related education preferred but not required
Work Environment
Combination of office and active construction job sites
Occasional travel to local job sites
May require flexible hours based on project needs
