Responsibilities
Summary
The Maintenance Electrician Subject Matter Expert (MESME) provides both Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant, championing executional excellence and critical electrical/instrumentation/automation asset health improvement efforts. The MESME will ensure results while partnering with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance team personnel, plant operational team, equipment suppliers, and all other plant support teams for success. This position will work closely with the engineering and maintenance departments to ensure that a critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment/component list is created, maintained, tracked, and communicated to the entire plant organization. The MESME will partner with the maintenance workflow process team and ensure that work orders for critical electrical/instrumentation/automation plant assets are in the CMMS backlog and are being planned and scheduled effectively. They will work with technicians to ensure that critical electrical/instrumentation/automation scheduled work orders are properly executed, followed through, documented and the value of the job is captured and reported. The MESME will report weekly and monthly to plant leadership on progress made on critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment care, and upcoming opportunities to improve. They will promote, execute, mentor, and coach excellence in electrical/instrumentation/automation preventive and corrective maintenance practices. The MESME will become a resource to the plant who focuses on improving operating condition of critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment and improving the skill sets and performance of the maintenance team. The MESME will carry and keep current any regulatory required licensure (e.g., electrical Masters or Journeyman). This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. This role must be available to work scheduled work times, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
Lead electrical/instrumentation/automation maintenance team members and tasks to ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost are continuously improved to achieve company objectives. Engage and develop the asset care team members to deliver expected levels of reliability. Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture.
Develop, implement, and champion Precision Maintenance techniques ensuring procedural compliance and that job tolerances are met.
Identify, develop, justify, and implement critical electrical/instrumentation/automation maintenance and performance improvement projects.
Work with Corporate Reliability Team to develop, implement, and review real-time condition assessment data for all critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment.
Responsible for identifying, coordinating, and facilitating critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment maintenance training for maintenance personnel.
Develop and implement quality assurance and reliability procedures for critical electrical/instrumentation/automation spares and parts.
Develop and implement quality commissioning procedures for critical rebuilt or new electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment.
Work with vendors to address critical electrical/instrumentation/automation issues identified through root cause and condition-based maintenance programs.
Lead/assist craftsman during critical electrical/instrumentation/automation maintenance assignments.
Lead technical electrical/instrumentation/automation troubleshooting tasks while assisting other plant personnel in a teaching environment.
Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support electrical/instrumentation/automation reliability reporting and decision making, guided by MFI ARM standards.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records (e.g., SAP data, critical equipment, regulatory documentation).
Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement.
Maintain regulatory licensure related to electrical/instrumentation/automation (e.g., Masters or Journeyman) and understand NEC code to a master’s level where applicable.
Promote and foster Michael Foods culture, values, and principles.
Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors and ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in electrical engineering or electrical/instrumentation/automation field is preferred. An associate's degree, two-year technical certificate, and/or relevant experience demonstrating electrical/instrumentation/automation technical and leadership aptitude may be acceptable.
Demonstrated leadership experience preferred.
5 to 8 years of experience as a maintenance electrician with emphasis on industry or manufacturing preferred.
Training and competency in MFI MEL1 and MEL2 skills preferred.
Electrical license or electrical/instrumentation/automation certification required per regional or national regulations.
NEC code training to master’s level preferred.
Master’s understanding of mechanical/electrical schematics and blueprints; ability to develop or modify drawings and maintain a library of drawings and diagrams.
Understanding of PLC and equipment automation preferred.
Experience building or modifying a control panel to a professional level preferred.
Available to travel up to 10% of annual work hours.
Prior experience in SAP preferred.
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and project scheduling skills.
Excellent administrative and follow-up skills for condition-based maintenance, preventive maintenance, and precision corrective repair programs.
