Job Information
We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer specialized in integrating fuel cells into microgrid solutions for data centers. In this role you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and deploying fuel cell electrical systems and site‑integrated electrical equipment that incorporate fuel cell technology as a primary or backup power source. You will create reliable, scalable, and sustainable power solutions that support critical data center operations.

Role & Responsibility
Fuel Cell Integration into Microgrids:

Design and integrate fuel cell systems into microgrid architectures, ensuring seamless operation as a primary or backup power source within data center environments. Optimize fuel cell performance, efficiency, and scalability for high‑demand applications. Include integration of fuel‑cell based microgrids with the existing electrical grid, ensuring proper synchronization, seamless transfer between grid‑connected and islanded modes, and effective load management for data center operations.

Fuel Cell/Electrolyzer Requirements Definition:

Propose and support changes to the fuel cell/electrolyzer electrical systems and onsite equipment integration. Ensure the electrical system maintains required certifications and understand grid protection functions.

Proficient in writing, maintaining and mitigating risk to product requirements.

Perform DFMEA/PFMEA.

Create 1‑line and 3‑line electrical schematics.

Create sequence of operation / product operation manuals.

Create presentations for management.

Electrical harness design and updates.

Safety system design and certification.

Microgrid System Design & Optimization:

Work with customers and suppliers to develop and implement site‑specific microgrid systems that combine fuel cells, energy storage (batteries/super caps), renewable energy sources (solar), and conventional generators for data centers. Focus on reliability, redundancy, and optimal energy management. Provide technical support and deliver complex energy solutions while identifying opportunities to bring additional value to customers.

Role & Responsibility – continued
Work with power electronics, DC‑DC, inverters, rectifiers and controllers to convert, condition, and distribute power generated by fuel cells. Develop control strategies to ensure efficient and coordinated operation of fuel cells with other energy sources in grid‑connected or islanded modes.

Reliability & Redundancy Design:

Ensure fuel cell and microgrid systems are fault‑tolerant, resilient, and meet high‑availability needs of data centers. Implement redundancy strategies (e.g., N+1 configurations) for critical components such as fuel cells, energy storage, and inverters.

Collaboration with Cross‑Functional Teams:

Work closely with mechanical engineers, software engineers, system and MBOP engineers, and data center operations teams to ensure the microgrid system fully aligns with facility power requirements. Communicate effectively to ensure timely integration and deployment.

Compliance & Safety Standards:

Ensure all fuel cell and microgrid systems meet regulatory requirements, industry standards (IEEE, IEC), and safety protocols for energy systems and data centers. Keep updated on environmental regulations and sustainability goals.

Troubleshooting & System Support:

Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for fuel cell‑based microgrid systems. Perform regular performance optimization and address system failures or efficiency issues.

Job Requirements – Education, Experience & Certifications
