Job Summary
Design Engineer will develop, plan, organize and conduct complex design assignments and be responsible for supporting all aspects of design and analysis for actuation. Candidate will be familiar with testing hydraulic and electro‑mechanical systems components.
Job Responsibilities
Perform duties in support of new product and sustaining designs
Coordinate with other Engineering and technical groups to develop, implement, monitor, and status assignments
Responsible for completing development, design, testing and certification assignments for new design or modifications. Develops creative, scientific alternatives during course of job assignments to reach desired outcome.
Initiate designs or incorporate design improvements utilizing CATIA V5 and V6 or SolidWorks software with an emphasis on modeling and drafting
Consult and coordinate with other engineering and manufacturing personnel to coordinate design function and resolve technical problems. Consults with supplier to discuss and remedy issues in a more timely and efficient manner.
Requests and coordinates work performed by Engineering support groups, Experimental, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management for the project
Maintains contact with Product Support Engineering and production departments to resolve engineering problems impeding production and to assist in the incorporation of new design concepts and changes.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related field
Minimum of 5 years engineering experience or relative aviation technical experience.
Preferred knowledge or experience with any of the following
Hydraulic Actuators – Internal Locking and Non‑Locking
Hydraulic Valves, Reservoirs, Accumulators, Pumps
Hydraulic Power Packs
Linear and Rotary Electro‑mechanical actuators
Ball‑screws, Roller Screws, ACME Screws
Gears, Splines and Planetary Gear Sets
Electronic Enclosures
Preferred experience with the following
Manufacturing processes used to make these types of products
Materials and Processes used for these type of products
Finishes and tolerances associated with these type of products
MMPDS Material Properties, SN Curves etc.
Regulatory requirements for qualifying and certifying these types of components
Vibration modes and testing associated with these types of components and systems
Desirable to understand thermal considerations associated with these types of components and systems
Tests & methods used to qualify these types of products
MOTORS and control
Qualifications
Strong familiarity with CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software
Familiarity preferred with software packages such as KissSoft, LabView, MatLab Simulink, MathCad
Demonstrated technical and organizational leadership
Demonstrated ability to work as a team player both internally and externally
Strong presentation skills

Textron’s compensation package includes competitive base pay and provides eligible employees with benefit programs. The pay range for this position is $98,450 – $196,460 per year. Paid Holidays: 12, Personal Hours: 0, Vacation Hours: 120, Parental Leave (weeks): 6.
