Job Overview
Design, plan, deliver and operate AWS global infrastructure supporting data centers. Own commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems to meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The Commissioning Engineer (CxE) provides testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. Responsibilities include:
Reviewing design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manage third‑party commissioning vendors.
Developing and executing test procedures, scripts, and reports.
Auditing activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality and safety requirements.
Reporting status of ongoing projects and sharing lessons learned.
Escalating critical issues and coordinating with AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations and contractor teams.
Physical Requirements
Walk job sites in uneven terrain; work at heights and from ladders.
Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; perform group lifts of 50+ pounds.
Work shifts longer than eight hours, with potential for nights and weekends.
Manipulate small wires and objects; work in noisy, cold or hot environments.
Additional Job Requirements
Travel domestic and internationally up to 80% of the year.
Provide personal transportation for meetings; reimbursed.
U.S. citizenship required.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of engineering, installation or commissioning experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant discipline work experience.
High technical competency in mechanical or electrical or control systems used in critical infrastructures.
Ability to review mechanical or electrical design documentation and provide feedback.
Experience developing and reviewing commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; advanced knowledge of SharePoint or similar.
Strong communication skills, detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high‑stress environments.
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and controls systems for critical infrastructures.
Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.).
Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals.

Salary and Benefits
Base salary ranges by location:
USA, TX, Austin – $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually
USA, TX, Dallas – $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually
USA, TX, Houston – $116,800.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually
