Manufacturing Estimator
Partner with engineering and evaluate projects for costs related to design. Develop, organize and maintain price book for all manufactured items. Manage bid requests from sales group and prepare formal quotes, paying special attention to design specifications and features. Follow up on quotes/proposals and update as necessary. Include basic sales drawings and plant layouts for quote/proposals provided by engineering department. Solicit quotes from factories and key vendors as needed. Maintain and manage historical quote data including pertinent information on wins & losses that will better aid in understanding market pricing. Assist with the ongoing development of tools for the sales group. Work with engineering to develop cost estimates for projects. Provides shipping dates, costs and/or estimates as required. Prepares and qualifies the required capital to fund large projects. Develops and maintains costing tools. Request estimates from 3rd party contractors for "turn key" projects. Continuously evaluate cost estimating data and work sheet forms and make necessary changes as required. Manage proposal process and provide inputs to management for future process improvements. Drive communication between engineering, planning, production and sales to ensure alignment with overall business processes and goals. Promote standardization across the estimation & proposal process. Assist with prioritization of build slots with consideration to due dates, current workload and manpower at all manufacturing locations. Perform other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent. Having functional competence and a basic understanding of engineering, manufacturing, and the production process is a must. Must be comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment where priorities are continually changing. Must be analytical and detailed oriented with ability to develop and organize costing tools. Able to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision. Able to identify problems and offer alternative solutions. Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally. Must be highly organized and possess the ability to multitask to meet deadlines in a challenging fast paced environment. Understanding of Oracle based ERP and/or NetSuite a plus. Proficiency in MS Office a must.
