About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future.
The EA Business Unit in Wendell, NC, is its U.S. headquarters and focuses on photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment, packaging, services, and solutions including automation.
You’ll be joining to

You will play a significant role in business generation of the EA Business Unit by preparing comprehensive technical and commercial proposals and solutions that best fit customer needs, while ensuring competitive pricing. You will work closely with Siemens Sales to prepare offers supporting customers in the industrial, construction and Data Center markets on technical, contractual, and commercial issues.
This role may convert to remote work with occasional travel to the office for trainings, workshops, events and meetings based on experience and qualifications.
You’ll make an impact by:

Review of customer specifications, commercial/technical documents, and product requirements.
Identify and define preliminary scope of work for a complete solution that fits the customer specifications.
Prepare layout and single-line drawings at a minimum to illustrate the scope of work.
Collaborate with Engineers within the Business Unit to generate technical solutions for Siemens products.
Prepare RFQ packages for third-party products and work with Procurement to secure quotations (Battery Systems, MV/LV Transformers, metering cabinets, Control Panels, among others).
Perform quote evaluations and provide technical recommendations on design and vendor choices.
Develop the cost model for quotations using product configurator tools and obtain approvals from senior management.
Prepare customer-facing proposals for Medium Voltage Switchgear and bundle with third-party products when applicable.
Engage in customer discussions by supporting the Business Development and Sales teams.
Collaborate with internal departments and Sales teams to negotiate and secure contracts.
Coordinate with the PMO for effective handover from Bid Phase to Project execution when winning the project.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
5+ years of relevant experience
Ability to analyze customer technical specifications and single-line diagrams; apply appropriate product offerings to meet expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner; offer alternatives to optimize profitability
Basic financial knowledge to understand and participate in business planning and lifecycle processes
Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills; ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining customer service
Strong communication skills with internal and external customers
Ability to identify market trends and work with Marketing and Technology to justify projects
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn product configuration/pricing apps
Travel required – Less than 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution; MV switchgear and Transformer applications
Experience in design and application of electrical distribution products with focus on MV metal clad/enclosed switchgear and transformers
Experience evaluating single-line diagrams, schematics, relay protection & control schemes, and network diagrams
Experience with Electrical and 2D layout tools (AutoCAD, Visio, etc.)
1-2 years engineering experience in EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial environment (advanced degree may substitute for 2 years)

The pay range for this position is $74,970 - $128,520 annually with a target incentive of 5% of base pay. Final offer may vary depending on budget and candidate experience.
