Skills and Competencies

10+ years of experience in risk management across the digital economy, AI/ML, and blockchain with a strong focus on technology governance, RCSA, control evaluation, and financial services compliance

Hands-on experience developing AI and GenAI-powered applications

Deep expertise in AI model lifecycle governance including validation, transparency, and explainability, with experience assessing and managing risk appetite in emerging technology domains

Practical experience with decentralized finance and blockchain operational risk

Broad-based technology experience operating at scale and complexity in a global, highly regulated environment

Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships between business and technical stakeholders

Demonstrated capability to evaluate and prioritize strategic initiatives while balancing diverse stakeholder needs and driving alignment

Clear thinker with strong analytical skills to review and challenge complex processes

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently with or without direct supervision

Demonstrated success leading large-scale initiatives with diverse, global, and cross-functional teams

Ability to influence cross-functionally and enterprise-wide while asserting second line risk responsibility in a consultative manner

Strong prioritization, multitasking, flexibility, and adaptability skills

Deep expertise in artificial intelligence, with a track record of implementing advanced AI solutions to drive strategic transformation and operational efficiency. Strong experience using AI tools to lead innovation initiatives. Demonstrated leadership in managing AI-related risks, ensuring ethical governance, and fostering a culture of responsible AI adoption across the organization

Education / Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technology discipline such as Computer Science, Information Management, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or equivalent

Relevant professional certifications preferred including CISSP, CISM, or CISA

Working knowledge of risk management lifecycle frameworks such as NIST, COBIT, ORX, and ISO 27001

Responsibilities
Serve as a senior second line risk leader supporting the management of operational risk related to AI, blockchain, DeFi, and the digital economy.

Develop, maintain, and communicate risk appetite for digital and AI-driven initiatives aligned with business objectives and regulatory expectations

Provide independent review and credible challenge of the Digital Economy risk profile and the implementation of the ORM framework

Represent second line risk at governance committees and forums and communicate changes in the Digital Economy risk profile

Challenge first line RCSAs for quality, completeness, and adherence to ORM standards and support escalation and reporting

Review and challenge operational risk events to ensure appropriate response, escalation, root cause analysis, and remediationChallenge the design, thresholds, and reporting of key risk indicators including first line rationale for breaches or material changes

Monitor and challenge emerging and evolving risks, ensuring timely identification and reporting of new or changing risks

Provide second line challenge to transformation and risk initiatives from design through go-live to reduce implementation risk

Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders across Digital Economy, Technology, and Information Security

Challenge adherence to applicable policies, standards, procedures, and the MR ORM framework

Oversee effective and accurate use of the GRC tool for all first line ORM activities

About the Team
The Moody’s Ratings Risk Management team was established in 2020 as the second line of defense risk function across Moody’s Ratings. The team sets risk policies and provides guidance, oversight, and challenge to ensure consistent implementation and ongoing adherence to risk standards. Operating as a global center of excellence, the team partners closely with the business to strengthen risk management practices across the organization.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $163,300.00-$236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
