
Disciplinary Counsel - Intake and Investigations

The Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee is seeking a motivated attorney for the position of Disciplinary Counsel in the Intake and Investigations Sections. This position is hybrid and located in Brentwood, Tennessee.
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of the Consumer Assistance Program, the Deputy Chief Disciplinary Counsel -Investigations and the Chief Disciplinary Counsel, this attorney conducts prescreening investigations by contacting attorneys and complainants to evaluate allegations of misconduct and determine whether there has been a violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct. This employee will investigate attorney disciplinary matters and prepare and deliver presentations for consideration by the Board of Professional Responsibility and Tennessee Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection. The position is considered full-time with benefits and offers a hybrid schedule, which includes work in office and work at home.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Conduct prescreening investigations to determine whether a violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct has occurred
Investigate complaints of attorney misconduct
Analyze and write reports regarding disciplinary complaints and claims
Prepare and present reports regarding Board of Professional Responsibility complaints, Lawyers’ Fund claims and ethics continuing legal education seminars
Skills and Ability
Strong communication and writing skills are required. Ability to define issues, ascertain the facts and draw conclusions. Working knowledge of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct is preferred.
Education and/or Experience
Applicants must be licensed in Tennessee and have significant experience in the practice of law.
Criminal background check is required for this position.
