Position Overview
The John C. Hench Division of Animation + Digital Arts at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts seeks an Adjunct Associate Professor to teach a stop motion course to undergraduates and graduates (majors and non‑majors) during the Fall 2026 semester in person at the USC campus in Los Angeles. The course covers puppet and set design, armature rigs, and animation techniques for stop motion.
Responsibilities
Teach the stop motion course to undergraduate and graduate students.
Design and deliver lectures, labs, and assignments on puppet and set design, armature rigs, and animation.
Assess student work and provide feedback.
Collaborate with the department to evaluate course effectiveness.
Qualifications
Currently engaged in the professional creation of stop motion films.
Minimum 4 years of professional experience working on stop motion films, shorts, or commercials.
Preferred 8 years of such experience.
Preferred MFA degree from an accredited university.
Minimum BA or BFA degree from an accredited university.
Demonstrated teaching experience, ideally at the college level, including professional and community seminars, workshops, and mentorships.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate ranges from $38 to $43.75 per hour. This is a 25% FTE adjunct position.
