Amherst College invites applications for the Green Dean - Center for Restorative Practices position. The Green Dean - Center for Restorative Practices is a full-time, one-year position. The expected salary range for this job opportunity is: $20.02-$20.50 per hour.

Amherst College invites applications for a Green Dean shared between the Center for Restorative Practices (CRP) and the Faculty Equity and Inclusion Officers (FEIOs). This is a twelve-month position running from August 1, 2026, through July 30, 2027. While formally 50% with each unit, the division of hours may be flexibly adjusted during the semester to meet program needs, with periods when responsibilities are more heavily weighted toward either the CRP or FEIOs. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ways they bring value to, and will support, Amherst's broadly diverse community.

We seek applications from current Amherst seniors and recent alumni with experience in program support and administration; comfort with data management, research, assessment, and evaluation; and interest in restorative justice, equity, and inclusive practices.

Reporting jointly to the Assistant Director of CRP and collaborating closely with Faculty Equity and Inclusion Officers, the Green Dean will help manage and maintain programmatic aspects of the Center for Restorative Practices while supporting DEI initiatives across the faculty. The role includes logistical, data, and publicity support for both units and involves active collaboration with students, staff, faculty, and community partners.

Summary of Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Management

Create and monitor Google Forms responses, registrant information on Google Sheets, and transfer information between systems (e.g., Google Calendar and Mailchimp)

Assist in drafting annual reports, including event statistics, registrant demographics, and qualitative feedback

Onboard incoming staff and interns and collaborate on administrative tasks for both CRP and FEIO initiatives

Communications

Assist in the maintenance of the CRP website

Oversee and update social media accounts connected to both units

Assist in the creation of announcements, digital alerts, and email communications

Effectively engage with a diverse student, staff, and faculty body

Administrative Support

Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

Maintain calendars and schedules for staff and events across both CRP and FEIO work

Organize and archive electronic and paper files

Proofread and edit documents as required

Supervision

Supervise student interns

Invest time in developing supervision skills

Build and strengthen relationships with interns, staff, and faculty across both units

Project Planning and Management Support

Participate in the development of CRP mission and goals, and support Faculty Equity and

Inclusion initiatives

Promote program philosophy and objectives for both restorative practices and DEI efforts

Collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and external partners

Coordinate daily activities and calendars for CRP and related FEIO initiatives

Support initiatives of the CRP Director and Assistant Director, and assist FEIOs as needed

Liaise with marketing and communications teams to increase awareness of programs

Co-plan and coordinate logistics for events and workshops

Maintain financial records and process budgetary requests

Gather feedback, anticipate program needs, and co-design collaborative, inclusive responses

Ensure relevant standards, processes, and regulations are upheld

Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree; preference for graduates of Amherst College

Ability to work independently

Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail

Strong communication skills

Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community

Strong proficiency in Google Suite, skilled in Sheets/Excel

Successful completion of required reference and background checks

An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check

Optional Opportunities (outside daily responsibilities):

Training in restorative circle facilitation

Tuition-free course in Restorative Justice at Vermont Law School (completed outside work hours)
