Student Nurse Tech
Join Mount Sinai Medical Center as a Student Nurse Tech! This is an excellent chance for students to gain practical experience in a hospital environment while keeping nursing school as your top priority.

Schedule
Minimum of 1-2, 12 hour shifts per month
Day Shift: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
Night Shift: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Position Responsibilities

Assist in preparation of the unit and patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and post‑operative patients.

Use proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients; apply and use appropriate equipment as needed.

Implement measures to reduce the risk of health‑associated infections.

Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the LPN/Registered Nurse in a timely manner.

Assist with the admission, transport, transfer, and discharge of patients, including care of personal property and clothing.

Provide safe care to patients requiring assistance with daily living activities.

Maintain patient personal and oral hygiene needs, provide catheter care as required, and report observations to LPN/RN.

Accurately take vital signs, record them promptly in patient records, and report any concerns to LPN/RN.

Distribute water, record correct intake and output when indicated within shift.

Obtain and label specimens accurately (e.g., sputum, stool, urine), maintaining precautions at all times.

Prepare patients for surgery or other procedures, including prep, clip, vital sign taking, assisting with bathing or voiding, and removing or securing dentures, jewelry, and other belongings.

Weigh patients as assigned; record weights and alert RN to any significant weight change.

Make frequent patient rounds at least every two (2) hours, reposition for comfort and offer bathroom assistance.

Assist RN with post‑mortem care, including labeling and securing all patient valuables.

Provide patient care as directed by licensed nurse, including enemas, sitz baths, applying/removing ice bags, k‑pads, binders, pelvic/buck's traction, blood glucose monitoring, and simple dress changes.

Qualifications

Licensed or Registered Nursing Assistant certification preferred; CPR certification required.

State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification preferred; if in cost center NURSING‑6 DE HMT SOUTH, PCT is required to obtain a Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate within 90 days of employment.

High School Diploma preferred.

One year of experience preferred.
