PRN Athletic Trainer (TEMP)

Opportunity
The University of Central Florida Recreation and Wellness Center employs PRN (as needed) Athletic Trainers to serve in the supervision and coordination of the Recreation and Wellness Center’s overall sports medicine program, including injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, short‑term and long‑term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student‑athletes, and athletics related health care administration in consultation with and under the supervision of the Athletic Training Coordinator and Physician(s).

Responsibilities

Provide athletic training services for the Recreation and Wellness Center’s sports programs, including Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, and general open recreation as directed by the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation and the Athletic Training & Risk Management Coordinator.

Attend scheduled competitions as deemed necessary.

Assist with the coordination and scheduling of student‑athletes for medical referrals and determine a student‑athlete’s ability to practice and/or compete in consultation with the Team Physician(s) and Athletic Training & Risk Management Coordinator.

Consult with the Team Physician(s) and other athletic trainers for guidance on the treatment of injured student‑athletes, and report on their progress.

Report the status of injured student‑athletes to RWC supervisors and meet periodically to discuss problem areas with the Risk Management Team.

Assist with the compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of all medical records of student‑athletes.

Enforce codes of conduct and rules of use for the Athletic Training Clinic, RWC’s facilities and equipment related to athletic training functions.

Share in responsibility of athletic training clinic maintenance and upkeep.

Work with RWC staff regarding safety and usage of athletic equipment.

Maintain a working relationship with RWC staff regarding safety of practice and competition surfaces and general field/court conditions.

Maintain certification and license requirements of the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) and the State of Florida.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree and 1+ years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience; CPR, BLS and AED certifications; and a State of Florida Athletic Training License.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working as an athletic trainer in a recreational setting.

Demonstrated customer service experience in a health, fitness, or recreational setting.

Hourly Rate
$25.00 - $27.14 (rate determined based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity).
