Job Summary

The County of Riverside's Riverside University Health System – Community Health Centers (CHC) is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse II/III MC/CHC to join their Express Care Clinic located in the City of Moreno Valley.
The Registered Nurse II – MC/CHC is the entry‑level classification in the Registered Nurse – MC/CHC series. Incumbents perform the full range of professional nursing duties within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act with minimal supervision and are expected to attend periodic in‑service training within assigned unit(s).
The Registered Nurse III – MC/CHC is the advanced classification in the Registered Nurse – MC/CHC series. Incumbents provide care while applying advanced knowledge and skills to patients with more complex problems and incorporate expanded responsibilities such as quality assurance, policy and procedure review, in‑service education, staff development, and preceptorship.
Ideally the candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and have at least two years of RN experience, including a minimum of one year in urgent care, express care, or emergency department settings. Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred. A valid California driver’s license is required as the role involves traveling between clinic locations to provide support as needed.
Certification Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Work Schedule

5/40, Monday through Friday
Hours: 11:30 am to 8:00 pm
Salary Range

Registered Nurse II MC/CHC: $43.99 – $68.09 per hour
Registered Nurse III MC/CHC: $51.12 – $77.15 per hour
Responsibilities

Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions.
Assist physicians in administering treatments, performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests, and surgical operations.
Administer prescribed treatments and medications, including dispensing, as ordered to patients.
Chart patient treatments, record and report significant changes in condition and general progress.
Provide counseling and advice to patients, families, and significant others regarding special medical problems and proper healthcare methods.
Instruct patients in carrying out physician’s orders and transcribe orders to working records.
Offer orientation and training to new staff, residents, medical students, Regional Occupational Program participants, and nursing students.
Participate in quality assurance reviews; act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel; participate in committee activities.
Triage patients by reviewing admission charts and directing patients into the appropriate patient assignment or clinic flow.
Testify in court as to client’s mental and physical condition when required.
Coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process with physicians, primary care nurses, and third‑party payors to maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility.
Review post‑hospital care plans with patients and families to establish contact, timelines, and responsibilities; follow through care plans through patient discharge.
Qualifications

Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California. A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related health‑field may be required for some positions.
Experience: One year of full‑time RN experience in an acute care hospital, outpatient clinic, or healthcare agency program for RN II; three years of full‑time RN experience in an acute care facility for RN III. Academic credentials (Bachelor’s, Master’s) may be accepted as substitutions for qualified experience.
Knowledge: Current principles, techniques, and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology; patient‑care routines appropriate to the clinical setting; medical instruments and equipment; effects of medicines and narcotics; community resources; federal, state, and local laws governing nursing practice; identification of potential discharge needs; payer documentation requirements; reimbursement regulations.
Ability: Perform the full range of nursing duties and responsibilities; plan and organize nursing plans; maintain concise, complete records; establish effective working relationships with physicians, patients, and colleagues; assist in instruction of entry‑level staff; evaluate medical records; make recommendations regarding continued stay; identify discharge needs; secure cooperation among staff.
License and Certifications

Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
Possession of valid BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association for professional healthcare providers.
Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
