Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a rehab tech to support our rehab team at M Health Fairview U of M Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. The role works in the outpatient pediatric therapy clinic and is part of a highly collaborative pediatric rehab team. The rehabilitation technician assists therapists in providing safe, efficient, and effective patient care by preparing patients for their therapy session, assisting with transfers, handling rehab equipment, ordering supplies, and performing clerical tasks as directed.

FTE: 1.0, authorized for 80 hours per pay period.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift only; no weekends.

Fairview Rehabilitation offers a range of services that serve patients across 10 acute‑care hospitals, 3 post‑acute settings, and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational, Speech Therapy, Audiology, and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

Responsibilities

Under therapist supervision, assess patients’ needs and identify ability to participate in treatment each day.

Assist with plan of care as directed.

Communicate recommendations or need for revision/updating of plan of care determined by physicians or nursing staff.

Coordinate care and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to achieve desired outcomes.

Under direct supervision, provide treatment interventions based on the plan of care.

Assist with treatment interventions, including patient transfers, monitoring, and exercise monitoring as directed.

Identify patient/family educational needs and communicate to therapist.

Assist therapist with use of treatment equipment and supplies.

Prepare, maintain and clean department/treatment areas in compliance with infection control, safety regulations, and guidelines.

Complete cleaning per schedule and maintain supply stocks.

Complete maintenance, temperature, and safety checklists.

Safely transport, transfer, and escort patients using proper body mechanics.

Follow procedures for patient transfers to ensure safety.

Demonstrate awareness of, and comply with, departmental standards for productivity, charges, attendance, time management, and prioritization.

Participate in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives.

Complete scheduling functions, produce accurate schedules and reports, record updates, and communicate changes timely.

Participate actively in problem solving and coordinate patient schedules across multiple disciplines.

Seek solutions to time conflicts directly through involved parties and available resources.

Required Qualifications

Completion of 2 years toward a bachelor’s degree in a health or exercise related field.

Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).

Preferred Qualifications

B.S./B.A. in health or exercise related field.

Healthcare experience with direct patient care.
