Practical Nurse Tech (PRN)
If you’re looking to gain hands‑on clinical experience while supporting high‑quality patient care, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is ready to welcome you. As a PRN Practical Nurse Tech, you’ll work under the supervision of registered nurses to provide direct patient support, assist with clinical procedures, and help maintain a safe, organized care environment. This role is ideal for current Practical Nursing students or recent graduates eager to grow their skills in a professional healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
Patient Care Support
Assist registered nurses in providing direct patient care according to established protocols and Oklahoma Board of Nursing guidelines.
Perform duties of a nursing assistant and additional technical skills learned in a nursing education program (after competency completion).
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
Scope of Practice
May not perform patient assessments or develop plans of care.
May not administer medications, blood products, or IV fluids.
May observe and report patient status to the supervising RN.
Cardiac Monitoring
Evaluate cardiac monitoring equipment and observe EKG rhythms under RN supervision.
Patient Education
Participate in planned patient education activities directed by a registered nurse.
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
May not act in a supervisory role or take verbal orders from authorized prescribers.

Qualifications
Current student: Enrollment in and successful completion of the first semester of an accredited Practical Nursing Program OR
Graduate: Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing Program and application submitted to sit for the state licensure exam.
Licensure exam taken within 90 days of graduation.
Exam passed within six (6) months of graduation on the first or second attempt.
BLS required.
Basic computer skills.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
