Patient Care Assistant
to work with our team in the
4 South Department .
The Patient Care Assistant works in a supporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities. Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under nursing or medical supervision. Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical duties and ordering and receiving supplies.
The Clinical Observation Unit can have a broad range of adult patients ambulatory and non-ambulatory that meet initial criteria for observation. The department will serve to provide efficient protocol-based care to patients with well-defined diagnosis or presenting symptoms such as chest pain, COPD, asthma & congestive heart failure.
To be considered, candidates must provide documentation of an 80% or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam.
Responsibilities
Provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under nursing or medical supervision.
Perform patient care activities including cleaning and assisting with activities of daily living.
Take vital signs, obtain lab specimens, chart patient information, and escort patients as needed.
Handle clerical duties and assist with ordering and receiving supplies.
Support the nursing team in delivering protocol-based care for patients in the Clinical Observation Unit.
Qualifications
Experience in a clinical setting preferred; ability to perform non-professional nursing tasks under supervision.
Documentation of an 80% or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam is required for consideration.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of adult patient needs.
