Overview
The Nevada State Public Defender, Ely Office, is responsible for representing indigent clients in the Ely Township Municipal Court, Justice Court and the Seventh Judicial District Court. Preference may be given to candidates that are self motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, proficient in Microsoft 360 programs, Legal Case Management software systems, and is fluent in Spanish.
Responsibilities
Meet with clients in and out of custody.
Review and analyze discovery.
Consult with clients, investigators, and additional office staff.
Manage court appearances and client meetings.
Conduct telephonic conferences and negotiate with opposing counsel.
Qualifications
Nevada Bar Membership is required or candidates must be eligible to practice under the rural practice provision of the Nevada Supreme Court Rule 49.9.
Experience in criminal defense law.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Preference may be given to candidates who are self motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, are proficient in Microsoft 360 programs, Legal Case Management software systems, and are fluent in Spanish.
