As a Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) Tier 1 Analyst, you will perform the initial assessment of alerts and notifications to determine whether an incident requires Level II and III support. You will operate within a team of CSOC Analysts and will escalated incidents to appropriate levels within the CSOC hierarchy based on requirements and standard operating procedures. The position is based in Rockville, MD, and is a second shift from 2 PM to 10 PM. US Citizenship is required.
Role and Responsibilities
Provide Level I technical support in CSOC operations and activities in a 24/7 environment.
Provide daily and weekly updates to CSOC Level II support on operations and developments.
Perform initial triage and response of CSOC events, notifications, and alerts.
Identify security incidents and distinguish them from non-security issues, escalating to the appropriate tier while maintaining clear documentation.
Operate within the CSOC ticketing system and help develop and optimize incident reporting procedures.
Maintain awareness of the IT infrastructure and changes that may impact national cybersecurity or intrusion detection.
Recommend procedures to CSOC Level II support for improvement of Level I duties and activities.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the comprehensive security tool suite available within the organization to effectively develop and escalade security incidents.
Participate in ongoing informal and formal knowledge‑sharing sessions within CSOC and IT departments.
Assist, as required, with the forensic analysis of less complex digital media devices.
Assist with documenting findings and recommendations for digital media analysis.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or associate degree in computer science or cybersecurity preferred; additional work experience and certifications will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Certifications: Security+ required. Certified Ethical Hacker or GCIH required; additional certifications are a plus.
Additional desired experience: ITIL, SNOW.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range:
$65,000 – $75,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
