Predoctoral Young Investigator – Robotics Team
Compensation Range:
$113,300
This role supports Ai2’s Robotics team by conducting research on foundation models, manipulation, and simulation for robotics.
Responsibilities
Investigate the scaling and generalization properties of foundation models for robotics and contribute to developing broadly competent robots.
Develop agents that manipulate objects, follow instructions, and acquire new skills across diverse tasks, in both simulation and on real robot hardware.
Build and leverage scalable, GPU‑accelerated simulation environments for large‑scale training, and develop pipelines that transfer learned policies reliably to real‑world robots.
Make substantial contributions to open‑source research, including methods, datasets, benchmarks, and tools.
Essential Functions
Gain strong research experience through collaboration with Ai2 researchers.
Co‑author papers and publish in top venues such as CoRL, ICRA, RSS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML.
Leverage Ai2’s data, engineering infrastructure, and research tools.
Participate in industry‑relevant projects in a supportive, mission‑driven environment.
No grant writing, teaching, or administrative responsibilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Intent to enter a PhD program within the next 1‑3 years, or currently enrolled in a PhD program.
Strong interest in language‑model based artificial intelligence and natural language processing.
Experience with real robots, simulators, or machine‑learning frameworks is desirable.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team.
